Rescue Diver

“Challenging” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. Building upon what you’ve already learned, this course expands on what you already know about how to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur.

Many divers say this is the best course they have ever taken!

Prerequisites

  • Have a PADI Adventure Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization)
  • You must also have completed a sanctioned course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR-Primary Care) and basic first aid (secondary care) within the last 2 years.

DiveTrust conducts the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses - meeting the above requirements.

Skills Covered

You'll cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems
  • Dive first aid
  • Swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • Underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • Egress (exits)
  • First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
  • Dive accident scenarios

During the course you will attend a couple of theory development sessions to reinforce the home-study completed prior to the course.

You will also take part in 10 open water skill development components, each specific to a particular rescue situation.

Following this you and your classmates will take roles in 4 open water rescue scenarios where you will apply the skills you have developed to solve realistic problems on and under the water.

In Colder Waters...

As we conduct our courses in both warm and cold waters.....

Please be aware that in colder waters i.e. Scotland (and Britain as a whole), it is recommended to dive wearing a drysuit (with a thermal undersuit).

We can include the Drysuit Specialty with any other course at a discounted price.
